Dollar General holds Career Fair Saturday

ALBANY, GA (WALB)-   In its effort to hire 10,000 new employees in May, Dollar General will host a career fair at Dollar General located at 2017 N Slappey Blvd.  in Albany, Ga. on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to attract new store candidates to join its thriving and growing organization. 

This event will be one of approximately 170 nationwide career fairs held on Saturday throughout the 40 states the retailer serves.

$695 raised by Twin Oaks Students

LEESBURG, GA (WALB)- A student-led effort to help cancer survivors ended up being a big success at a Lee County School.  

Friday, students at Twin Oaks elementary school donated the proceeds from their effort to the Cancer Coalition of Southwest Georgia. Maria Cerrone was in class one day drawing a picture to raise awareness about cancer when she got an idea to raise money to give to the Cancer Coalition of Southwest Georgia.

LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB)- Twin Oaks Students Donate Money Some Lee County kids are raising awareness about cancer and money to help survivors in south Georgia.

Twin Oaks Elementary School students Maria Cerrone and Kendall James organized a fundraiser to support the Cancer Coalition of Southwest Georgia.

They asked parents, teachers, family members, and classmates to donate one dollar or more to help fight cancer.

Reward offered for stolen heirloom

ALBANY, GA (WALB)- A Dougherty County woman is offering a reward for the return of a rare coin.

The 1923 $20 gold medallion may be worth as much as $25,000. The owner says it has great sentimental value to her. She's asking whoever has it to return it.

Martha Ann Long said her gold medallion coin was a special gift handed down through her family and now she is offering $1,000 no questions asked, to try to get her precious heirloom back.
